Hello and welcome to my blog and my first ever blog post! Who knows what persuaded me to make a blog page at 2:00am in the morning (It's Saturday night, gotta make the most of it) and who knows how long this blog will last. Hopefully longer than my last attempts, which I will explain.
I have always been a passionate writer. Not necessarily the most creative, the most articulate, the most concise writer, but passionate. Aged 8, I wrote my first novel: 'Homeless Sam'. This consisted of 10 A5 pages about a boy called Sam who was beaten, thrown out of his home and met Father Christmas. Yes, I too am shocked that I wrote about such real, gritty, hard hitting issues. Clearly my love for soap operas was beginning. There was something so satisfying, something so meaningful, something so GOOD about finishing that novel, whatever its quality, that I haven't since been able to repeat. I came up with many ideas for random stories. They may last 2 or 3 pages, lose pace and then the classic give up, paper screwed up and thrown in the bin routine ensued. We've all been there, though hopefully not in the bin. After going through this same routine, I knew something had to change. So came non-fiction. Since adding yet another notebook to my endless stationery collection, I kept a, somewhat, weekly diary as to the goings on in my life. I wrote the diary simply to improve my technique and have something to look back on in the days where the world will be paperless! My diary is for my eyes only, yet I wanted to be able to share my beliefs and views with the world. Chewed over idea when the concept of Tea Talks appeared, a YouTube channel where I would drink tea (any tea, wasn't fussed) while discussing a topic. Though this is excellent for spontaneous rambles, this wasn't improving my writing technique and ability to be more concise, fluid and direct with what I wanted to say. A blog seemed a logical answer. I've created roughly 2 to 3 blogging sites before, for the exact same intention. Each time they have started off well, but then lost focus of what to discuss. This leads to a never ending hiatus and the eventual closure of the blog....but not this time! The difference between those blogging attempts and this one is I now have a rapid interest in politics and current affairs. If you have been following any UK politics recently, there is a lot to talk about, debate and discuss. I plan to use this blog page as that platform, along with anything that appears interesting. Browsing blogging sites and came across Weebly, which seems very slick so far, although the date being written as MM/DD/YYYY is a real pet hate of mine! Blog lengths may vary (quality not quantity), but I will aim to post a blog of some form every week. I hope you will stick around for the journey, if you haven't already left, and carry on reading. (God, that would make an awesome 'Carry On' film!) Now, at the unearthly hour of 25 minutes to 3, may we all sleep. Unless you're a hamster. In which case you would be nocturnal. And wouldn't understand anything I've written. Unless you were fluent in English. Also, what are you doing out of your cage?!!
