My blog has turned one! Exactly a year ago today, days after the EU referendum, I was constructing this page, using the Weebly template, to create Tea Talks blog. How has it been a year? So much has happened! As I type this blog, I'm looking back on my introduction post, intended to draw readers in and reveal what this blog was about (Here for the nostalgia: http://teatalksblog.weebly.com/home/welcome-an-introduction). How time flies.
Blogging continuously for a year has taught me so much. Writing about different issues and giving my own opinion has meant I've had to research stories. Given the amount of fake news dominating the internet, finding reliable sites has been a task. Blogging has helped me to get to grips and understand a variety of issues in a short space of time, to allow me to write my perspective. In a way, I've very pleased to have become more opinionated. I think that's far more interesting than simply having no view whatsoever on any matter. Of course, some opinionated people can act like they know exactly what they are talking about; in reality - they haven't a clue. For my blog site to still exist a year after its creation is a major achievement. As I wrote in my introduction to the blog, previous blogs I've created have ceased after a couple of months due to a lack of interest/topics to write about. I prayed that this blog would last longer and the excitement and novelties of creating a blog wouldn't soon wear away. That certainly hasn't been the case. Managing to write over 80 blogs has far exceeded my target of one per week. While they certainly vary in both quantity and quality, pressing 'post' has never stopped feeling satisfying. A year on, my nerves and, though it sounds odd, fear of writing is gradually decreasing. Never has staring at a blank screen, with no clue what to write, felt more terrifying. Starting to type the blog is always the hardest part; gradually as blogging becomes more normal, this has become easier. Since my first blog, no novels have been crafted, mainly due to my GCSEs taking up a substantial amount of my time. I hope that the skills I have undoubtedly gained through blogging could be used to eventually write a book - that would be the dream. As ever, a massive thank you to my small bunch of loyal readers. I say this a lot in special blogs, but I really am thankful. I don't write blogs simply for them to be read, but seeing the viewing figures increase when a new blog is posted is a wonderful feeling. Whatever your opinion of my blog, it's amazing to see people consistently reading them. Always feel free to leave a reply if you want to challenge what I have written. So, Tea Talks blog has lasted a year. There has been so much to write about, react to, give my view on and analyse. Given the political climate, there will be lots (positive and negative) to discuss. I plan to expand my blogs on other matters too e.g review books I am reading over the summer, as well as TV shows. I'm so happy about the first year of my blog. I can't wait to see where it will go in the future. I hope you will join me.
