Like the vast majority of the population, I condemn Donald Trump's comments from 11 years ago on women. They were offensive, wrong and only reinforce my view that Hillary Clinton is the correct candidate for President. Many from across the political spectrum are disgusted by his belief that because of his wealth and power, he can do what he likes to women. Senior Republicans have announced they cannot endorse Trump for President and want him to go urgently. I doubt, however, that he'll quit.
To many Anti-Trump supporters, Trump's comments could have never come out and he still wouldn't have received their vote. To staunch Democrats, Trump could have been the ideal President and he still wouldn't have received their vote. People are calling these clips the end of his chance to be US President. However, do this abhorrent comments really change the opinions of Trump supporters? Let us remember that Trump has said many awful things on a whole range of issues before and his supporters have loyally stuck by him. Why would they be likely or willing to change sides when Trump supposedly speaks what they believe in? People would be wrong and mistaken to call these clips the end for Trump What must happen in the last month of campaigning from Hillary Clinton is a rigorous, break down of why Trump's policies are wrong and what her policies will do to help the vast swathes of let down Americans. She must not assume that people who don't like Trump will automatically vote for her. Her campaign can't be 'the lesser of 2 evils', but instead the beacon of hope, change and trust for millions of Americans who feel left behind. ******************************************************************************************** It was nice to see a different, humorous, real side to 2 politicians both rejected at the last election. Nick Clegg, former Liberal Democrat leader and former Deputy Prime Minister, was a guest host on the BBC's 'Have I Got News for You.' His good humor and clear self deprecation was a change from being one of the most disliked politicians. Knowing Ian Hislop and Paul Merton would tease him, Clegg got the jokes in himself and acted graciously. Though Clegg will always be punished for Liberal Democrat lies on tuition fees, he meant well as Deputy Prime Minister and did what was in the national interest. I feel his career in politics, nor Television presenting is over. Ed Balls, former Labour MP and former Shadow Chancellor, danced his 3rd routine on 'Strictly Come Dancing.' Though he was bottom of the leaderboard, Balls entertained much of the audience, receiving a standing ovation. He makes the show very authentic by being a true amateur. I hope the public's generosity will mean he is voted in for many weeks to come. Who knows, it may get to the point where he has to withdraw for fear of actually winning! **************************************************************************************** Just after the half term, I have a number of 'mock exams.' As I'm sitting my GCSE's next May, the school have to send predicted grades to sixth form colleges based on mock exam results. Though these only give a snapshot, it could be annoying for someone who gets an 'E' on the mock exam but a 'B' in the real exam. Therefore the next 2 weeks and half term will be revise, revise, revise. I've learnt the best methods include making posters, flashcards and past papers. My hope is the exams will be of some use, and a clear benchmark to improve from. Best of luck to fellow Year 11's also sitting exams.
