Some readers may know that, along with writing this blog and often tweeting, I have a vlog YouTube channel called 'Tea Talks' where I talk in depth about current issues and things interesting me (while drinking tea). Just like this blog, but less detailed, more spontaneous and more informal. I've covered a wide range of topics from the EU vote, why I dislike Windows 10, tests to even teenage slang. But for the last month or so, I haven't uploaded any videos. I've had a hiatus, as it were. As it's got the point where people may think I've died/stopped liking tea/forgotten how to give an opinion/forgotten what a tea bag is, (omit where appropriate) I thought I'd sum up the reason for a lack of videos in a nice, concise (he says) list.
1) Time. Now you might be thinking 'haven't the summer holidays just happened - 6 weeks of free time!'. I understand that there were lots of time over the holidays, but quite a bit of it was taken up by being on holiday, including going abroad (future blog post) meaning I couldn't record in any way, shape or form. Time at home was spent either sleeping, working, watching various documentaries or eating. Never all at once. Definitely. 2) Lack of things happening. In my 'Tea Talks', I often like to talk about current affairs that are relevant to the time, especially political affairs. However, over the summer, the so called ''summer recess'' occurs, where Parliament stops for 2 months and the political drama ceases. Like when 'Casualty' takes a one week break after each series. But not set in a hospital. And longer. And less missed. 3) GCSEs (!) For those who aren't aware, I will be taking my GCSE exams next May. Terrifying I know. Basically lots of stuff (including mocks, choosing further education colleges, revising revising revising and actually sitting the exams!) will be taking place, meaning my priorities will be doing that to achieve the best results. My aim will be one blog post per week, though it may differ from time to time. 4) Milk. During the holidays, we frequently ran out of milk. (Mainly due to my excessive love of tea with milk and having cereal with milk every morning) Now, who can drink tea without milk? Not me, it seems. I often wonder why the milk man has disappeared from British culture - it seems such a good idea to have milk delivered to your door. 5) This blog! Over the past few weeks, I have enjoyed writing a blog more than making videos. One of my aims in life is to become a journalist, so the format of writing a blog has really interested me. I'm sure many more reasons will come up in the near future. Regardless, I don't intend to stop making videos forever - just not as frequently as my blog posts. And that, is that. Note: I have been drinking tea for the entirety of writing this post. With milk.
