Writing my blog over the last 6 months has been so much fun. Finding a news story, analysing it, coming up with my own opinion and constructing that into logical sentences has been, at times tricky, but very rewarding and enjoyable. The opportunity to rant, express a view, review a product or just list stuff has been exciting and taught me lots about writing and the world we live in. I look forward to continuing this blog into 2017 and beyond - there will be so much, good or bad, to discuss, criticize and evaluate.
I cannot wait for Christmas in just 3 days time. Thankfully, all my presents are wrapped (all by me for the first time!), the majority of cards have been written and now the clock is just ticking. I am a passionate believer that Christmas is about being with people you love. Eating the turkey with family, opening presents with delight, playing silly board games with guaranteed laughter, drinking away into the night......all part of my perfect Christmas day. None of my Christmas shall be spent online, and though I intend to take photos for the memories, none shall be posted on Instagram until Boxing Day. (that is what the day is for after all?) The point I am trying to make is that more of Christmas should be about being grateful for who you've got, not what you've received that day. I sadly feel Christmas is becoming far too commercialized, with gifts and Santa Claus being far more important that true Christmas values. This will probably continue as technology develops - a real shame. Christmas carols, religious and none, are constantly over tannoys. Thankfully, I feel the religious element of Christmas is in decline, with church numbers especially at record low. Christmas to me, is neither about the commercial element of buying a ton of gift or the religious element of the, alleged, birth of Jesus. I hope others will also see Christmas in this way. And it is here that I sign off 2016. I thank dearly my small, but consistent readership for their support and viewing of my page. It makes me very happy to see that even 1 person has viewed this blog. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, however you intend to celebrate. I hope the turkey is tasty, the presents you give and receive are appreciated but most of all, you are with those you love. I have enjoyed 2016 muchly, though there have been challenges, I feel I've developed well as a person, gaining more knowledge and opinions. I look forward to 2017 - for the blog, for the challenges but most of all for the new experiences and things I will learn.
